Days Gone By - John Moulton Barn
Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
In the early 1900s several Mormon families settled in the Jackson Hole area that is now a part of Grand Teton National Park. One of these families was the Moulton family who between brothers Thomas Alma (T.A.) Moulton and his brother John Moulton built what are today two of the most widely recognized barns in the world. The John Moulton barn with its gambrel-roof was a more developed site because John took a lifetime lease on his homestead after selling the property to the National Park Service in 1953. Living until the age of 103, John’s family was able to stay on the property until 1991. These iconic structures were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
