Cinnamon Bear

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

A healthy cinnamon black bear in Yellowstone National Park gorges on the surrounding fresh spring vegetation. Cinnamon bears get their unique color due to a genetic variant which causes an alteration in the coat’s pigmentation to a more cinnamon or copper color. These bears are mostly found in the western portions of the United States and Canada, while bears on the eastern side of these regions have the more familiar black fur known to black bears.
